TextAssist Patch for Windows 95 =============================== The current Windows 3.1 version of Creative TextAssist does not work under Microsoft's new Windows95 operating system. This problem is rectified by updating your TextAssist software with two files - CTSW.EXE and LANGRC.DLL. These two TextAssist files are included with this README.TXT file. To update your Windows 3.1 version of TextAssist with these two files, follow these steps: 1. If you have not already done so, install Creative TextAssist onto your PC (with Windows95 already installed). 2. Rename your current CTSW.EXE file to another name (for example, CTSW.BAK). Similarly, rename your LANGRC.DLL file to LANGRC.BAK. 3. Copy the new CTSW.EXE file to the directory where TextAssist is installed on your PC (typically \T_ASSIST). 4. Copy the new LANGRC.DLL file to the directory where Windows95 is installed on your PC (typically \WINDOWS). TextAssist's text-to-speech playback should now be enabled in Windows95. To test it out, try launching the 'Singing Text' files with Texto'LE and click on the Speak button. Note: Two of the TextAssist applications - TextReader (TAREADER.EXE) and Talking Scheduler (TALKSCHD.EXE) will not function properly in Windows 95. In the case of TextReader, it is no longer able to attach itself to the title bar of the active application. However, you can still activate TextReader by using the TextReader hotkeys, or by using the System Menu. Please refer to your TextAssist manual on how to activate TextReader using these methods. In the case of Talking Scheduler, the 'Clock' function will no longer work. All the other functions, however, should still work. ******** End of README File ********
